Hi I recently bought a U3415W (last week) and am having an issue where a white horizontal pixel line will show up randomly for about 1/4 of a second, it will be about 1/3-1/5 of the screen width. This happens usually within a minute of turning on my computer and monitor (my monitor and computer are tied together at my UPS so when the computer turns off the UPS cuts power to the monitor), and a line will show up randomly, sometimes every minute, sometimes several within 15 seconds.
I uploaded a video of the line here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-Y4qzBCp-yKMGFDdVZIV0VaNzQ/view?usp=sharing It happens 13 seconds into the video.
This happens when:
I use the Dell-supplied DP-miniDP cable with DP 1.2 enabled.
I use the Dell-supplied DP-miniDP cable with DP 1.2 disabled.
I use the Dell-supplied HDMI cable with DP 1.2 enabled.
I use the Dell-supplied HDMI cable with DP 1.2 disabled.
I have found that power-cycling the monitor or cycling the DP 1.2 setting have temporarily *fixed* the issue. The issue will return a few minutes later, but typically at a reduced frequency.
A couple times I have chosen to ignore then lines and after about 1 hour of monitor use (with the random lines appearing) the monitor started displaying moving green lines. Here’s the video of that happening: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-Y4qzBCp-yKczdqYlVJTlR0MGs/view?usp=sharing
Again, this (green lines) has only happened a couple times. Usually I power-cycle the monitor about 10 minutes after turning it on, and this seems to keep the green lines from showing up.
I have accessed the self-test screen sequence, and the monitor displays the colors and font with no issues. I watch the screen while cycling through and have not seen any white lines show up yet, but the self-test screens only stay active for a couple minutes.
I’ve also updated the monitor’s driver with the one on Dell’s website and I’ve updated my graphics card driver to the latest one (GeForce 355.82).
Could this be an issue with the monitor’s input hardware/software or compatibility with the graphics card I have? I haven’t had any issues like this with previous monitors.
