Can't connect my 2208WFPt to my XPS 13 (2015)

Hi ! I realize this issue has probably been adressed before, but I wasn't sure what to buy, so I prefered asking directly so I won't buy the wrong cable/converter again :)

I've recently bought my new XPS 13 and decided to keep my old monitor, so I can use it once in a while for work. My monitor is a Dell 2208 WFPt. I updated my XPS to Windows 10. Up to now, I've been able to connect my computer easily to my HDMI tv with a cable, but my monitor is still undetected and just goes to sleep.

I bought this adapter thinking it would be as easy as it was with my tv (www.amazon.ca/.../B00KHRSGO8;redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00).So i used my mini DisplayPort to a DVI cable via the adapter.

My video card is Intel HD Graphics 5500.

Please let me know what next steps I should take. I realize I may have the wrong cable, but if the one I have is suppose to work, what should I try?

Thank you,

Catherine

P2415Q: I demand to know the exact differences between an A01 and an A03

I bought a P2415Q from Amazon UK and received an A01 (Bought Monday, received today)

I demand to know what the difference between an A01 and an A03 is

Dell should brand products as P2415Q, P2415Q1, P2415Q3 etc. and stop victimizing buyers and blaming resellers

I bought this product from Amazon UK as it's not available in Turkey, however even if it was available in Turkey, I'm sure they would all be A00's

TL;DR: Please list the differences of A03 vs A01 and the known shortcomings of the A01

I'm using OSX, only experienced a wake issue once, the monitor didn't wake up instantly and all windows were resized for this reason, however it's not persistent (had the monitor for an hour)

Dell U2715H: connected via HDMI versus via DP??

Hi.

I have 1 Dell u2715H monitor and plan to purchase one more.

My video card only has 1 DP output port.

Hence my questions:

1. IF I connect the second monitor via HDMI, will the U2715H still operate at its maximum capability?

2. Would it be better to use a MiniDP (male) to HDMI (male) cable to connect the monitor instead of an HDMI (male) to HDMI (male) cable?

3. How worth it would be it be buy a new video card (that has multiple DP ports)?

Note: I'm reluctant to do that because I have experienced major issues after installing a new card recently, and had to revert back to the original one. But I would try again if my monitors won't function at 100 percent connected via HDMI.

THANKS!

Hi,

I have bought used Dell 2011 monitor. It was in mint condition, I tested the panel through monitor test, and there were no dead, or stuck pixels, the colors are uniform, and the panel seemed to be ok. But when I came home and turned on monitor on my Windows machine, I was very dissapointed what I was able to see. I some ocasions, not every time, with some kind of pictures and videos, there are horizontal , one pixel in height, white lines which are flcikering and goind up and down with the picture as I am scrolling up and down. I tried to cath it with camera, so here is the video on YT:

(Please visit the site to view this video)

Can someone suggest me what it could be? I really like this monitor, the colors are awesome, but I can't get over this flickering problem?

Thank you very much!

U3011 power/turn off after few minutes

I have a 3 years 4 months old U3011, the monitor was working fine until today it suddenly turn it self off! the power button is off, no standby or sleep amber indicator. If I turn the mains off for a few minutes, the monitor will power on again then after a few minutes, turn off again.

I had tried different power plug/outlet, different power cables, unplug everything except power cable, still the monitor will lose power by itself after a few minutes. had also tried to "hard reset" by pressing the power button for >15 seconds with only power cable attached. The power supply is gone case?

Monitor was purchased in 2011 May, the standard warranty period was 3 years, Dell website stated 3 years exchange warranty had expired on May 2015. only the limited phone tech support is available till May 2017. My question is can I upgrade the limited phone support to full warranty?

I'm a Dell monitor fan, had bought 7 Dell monitors since 2007, only the 2 oldest models are having slight backlight issue but all of them are still working today. this U3011 was the latest purchase and the most expensive yet it is the first one to have serious issue. sigh.

appreciate any help, TIA.

Can't display 2560x1440 from my desktop with DVI-HDMI cable on Dell P2416D

I have recently purchased the new Dell P2416D and have been successfully setup with my Lenovo X1 laptop to display the maximum resolution over miniDP-DP cable. This is company computer for my work.

I also sharing this monitor with my personal desktop computer which I have Sapphire ATI HD3850 card installed. It has 2 DVI ports which I can confirm that they both are DVI-I Dual Link type. The graphic card has is capable of maximum resolution of 2560x1600 according to its specification.

Since the Dell P2416D doesn't come with DVI port, I have to use a DVI-HDMI cable which I purchased from Amazon and thousand of users seem to be happy with the quality and result when using with super high resolution setup.

The P2416D document specifies that the DisplayPort and HDMI can do the maximum resolution. OK, I think it's enough for the background.

When I turn on my desktop computer (Win7) and I'd like to switch to the highest resolution (2560x1440), there's an option under Display/Resolution for me to select such resolution, after I click apply the change, it turns black and a second later shows this message

"The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 2560x1440, 60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications."

I did try almost eveything, changing timing (59-60Hz), changing color depth (16bit-32bit) and all those combination. I uninstalled graphic card driver and reinstalled. I have the Dell monitor driver updated as of the latest version available on the web. I did factory reset for the monitor as well.

What should I do next to solve this problem?

Hello.

I just purchased a brand new computer today. Dell Insprion 3847 running Windows 10.

I connected it to my Dell widescreen monitor and everything was fine. I was not happy with the resolution, and tried to change it. Once I did this, now my computer boots up to a black screen stating:

"The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input.

timing to 1920×1080@60hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications"

I looked in the BIOS to see if there is an option to reset the VGA and could not find one.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a Dell Touchscreen Monitor, ST2240, I believe. I want to use it with my electronic medical records. The handwriting recognition will be very helpful, but I can not find a stylus to write fine enough to make the text box recognize anything unless it is just HUGE lettering.

U2415: DP not working

I'm having problems getting my U2415 working with DP or mDP. After receiving it, it appeared to work just fine on DP connected to my Mac Mini. After a week, the screen went blank, said it's going into power saving mode. After some playing around, resetting, running the self test (passed) and making sure it worked with HDMI, things worked again with DP.

Over the next three weeks, as screen problems increased (blank screen, telling me there is no signal and going into power saving mode), I ended up trying another DP cable I bought (thinking the Dell cable was defective) and then a newly purchased mDP cable. Now it's at the point where I never can get the screen to work, unless I use HDMI (which is what I'm forced to now). I also checked with another computer, to make sure it's not the DP port on the Mac Mini, but I get the exact same issue.

I just passed the 30 day mark a week ago, so I'm curious of others are having this issue with the Rev 02 version of the U2415.

Dell P2412H monitor display extremely dark

Hello,

This monitor has been driving me crazy. I got it for free from work and they were having issues with it as well. Basically when I turn the monitor on, whether it is connected via the DVI cable to my PC or not, it will only momentarily display the screen before it goes almost completely black. If you look very closely, you can see the display. I ordered a new power supply board and installed it, and it was working for 3 days. I wen to power up my machine today and it went back to it's old ways. I saw an old post where someone took it apart and made sure all the capacitors were aligned vertically and then it worked. I've tried this with no success. None of the capacitors appear to be bulging so I don't think that's the issue. I've just about had it with this monitor. Is there anything else I should try before calling it quits?

I am one of those nuts that constantly tosses his hard earned money into all things electronics. Sometimes it backfires which has led me to open this discussion.

I am always rebuilding my PC's to take advantage of the latest hardware benefits. I recently have moved to the an entire new platform for my PC and I have to say overall am happy. But.....

I think I made a mistake when it comes to a new monitor for my PC.  had the Dell 2340M which despite a glossy screen had one of the BEST looking screens I have ever used. Not really an avid gamer any longer (I was) my concern is clarity and appearance more so than frames per second per se.

Anyway, as I have aged, like many, my vision had begun to create struggles for me. Yes I have reading specs but this is what led me to my issue. Last year I decided to move to a 4K Television. Of course watching TV is not the same as running a PC. But I made the mistake of assuming a 4K monitor would be as impressive as a 4K TV. Due to this mistaken assumption I ordered a new S2715Q 4K monitor for my home. I say I made a mistake not because it was not a crazy clear picture but rather the native resolution was "too" good and blowing it up made things act somewhat fishy. Yes even the smallest text is clear but no matter how much I mess with the settings, I can't get it to look like I want it to.

What I really want is a larger version of what I had that can keep the same basic settings but be a large screen. The S2715 H appears to be a non UHD monitor and appears to scale to the same settings as  I had on the 2340. It says it has the same reflective screen etc.

So my question is this:

In fact, is the S2715H the same monitor qualities as the 2340M? Would I have been better off with the 27 inch HD monitor verses the S2715Q UHD monitor? Perhaps that seems to be my issue.

I like the glossy look of the screen on the S2715H but Not if others ask me why. LOL
