Dell SX2210B - Doesn't recognize my monitor, but picks up Roku

I have a Dell SX2210b. I am only connecting display peripherals, not the usb, webcam, or sound.

I used to use the monitor through HDMI connected to my HP Probook 430G1. I would typically use it along with another monitor connected through VGA as well. Everything was fine for a while, then all of a sudden the HDMI stopped working. When I would plug in the HDMI cable neither the monitor nor the computer would recognize any change. For troubleshooting, I tried the following:

I tried the following (failure in red, success in green):

  • Connecting my HP Probook 430G1 through HDMI - Monitor says "No HDMI Cable" connected :(
  • Connecting my Dell Insipiron (I don't have exact model number) through HDMI - Monitor says "No HDMI Cable" connected :(
  • Connecting my HP Probook 430G1 through VGA - WORKS! :)
  • Connecting my Roku streaming device through HDMI - WORKS! :)
  • Connecting my HP Probook 430G1 to a DIFFERENT monitor through HDMI - WORKS! :)

I've also tried using the FN+F4 trick to change the display settings on my computer. I've reinstalled my computer's display drivers. I downloaded the SX2210 display driver, but it just unzipped and stopped - I haven't gone further down that road yet.

I would really like to use my laptop (the HP Probook) with the monitor through HDMI - any suggestions on how to get it working again?

My hypothesis is that it has something to do with the power maybe? The Roku is self powered directly from the wall outlet, so maybe that has something to do with it? I really don't know much about electrical engineering or HDMI to say, though, just thinking out loud.
