Dark Vertical line - Dell S2240L monitor
Hi
I am facing some issues with my dell S2240L monitor which i purchased last year. A 2-3 pixel thick dark red vertical line is appearing on the left half of the screen making it difficult to read words which it intersects.
I have tried changing video(VGA) cables, checking for loose connections, updating video drivers, factory reset, changing the graphics card and using HDMI port as well, but the issue still persists. The monitor is still under 3 years onsite warranty.
Please advise on the issue. I can't find the express service tag as it is a 21.5" monitor purchased separately and not as a part of complete desktop.
Serial Number - CN01MVD1641803261SAT
Date of Purchase - 04-07-2013
Warranty - 3 years onsite warranty
Thanks
U2713HM, Dell Display Manager program wishlist
The "Dell Display Manager" (version 1.20.0.1450) program for Windows is a fantastic little utiliy that allows me to change setttings and split the monitor up into partitions using "Easy Arrange"
However !
When "Easy Arrange" is enabled, my programs will by default maximize into any of these partitions.
Holding SHIFT while moving a window, will disable the auto-arrange feature..
could you PLEASE invert this, so that
- holding SHIFT while moving a window will partition the program
- not holding SHIFT while moving, will work as normal !!
please make it an option for people who like the opposite !
THANKS !
U2413, how to fix inverse ghosting?
Hi,
My u2413 is purchased in June 2013 and it has ghosting issue like the post http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/t/19526533.aspx. I heard dell fix ghosting issue in Rev 002 so how do I get this fix?
S2240L cannot be detected?
I am using dell S2240L and using VGA cable to connect it. So i am trying to install the driver from the CD. its won't install. it says like this,
"The following connected monitors have been detected: Def Plug and Play Monitor - Default_Monitor
Drivers for the following monitors have been found:
DELL S2240L(Analog) - DELD053
DELL S2240L(Hdmi) - DELD054
DELL S2340L(Analog) - DELD057
DELL S2340L(Hdmi) - DELD058
Drivers for the following connected monitor can be installed: None
"Please connect your monitor before running this program.". Then i am trying to search the problem and found it to install the driver manually from device manager. done with that. i am checking that driver working or not by using "Dell Display Manager" it's say no dell monitor detected. FYI my OS system is windows 8.1 64 bit. Also, i am using other method to check "right click in the desktop" >> " select screen resolution". and the display say Display device on VGA. not dell monitor.
S2340M, DVI-D port not being recognised
I purchased a Dell S2340M monitor on Amazon.com 2 weeks ago. When I received the monitor and tried connecting it to my mac, the VGA connection gets recognized, but, without the maximum resolution supported by the monitor. The DVI-D connection is not recognized at all. I have tried 2 separate cables and they both work on three other monitors, including a Dell U2713HM, which has a higher resolution. When I contacted Dell customer service, I was informed that because there is no service tag on my monitor I will have to attach it to another monitor which has a service tag. My other Dell monitor was registered in someone else's name and I have to wait for a week to have the ownership transferred before I can receive warranty support. I find this to be absolute rubbish! What would happen if I didn't have another Dell monitor?! I would like someone to help me to have this problem resolved, I bought my monitor for immediate use and now I am being hampered in completing my research because Dell refuses to acknowledge the warranty on my monitor which they sold without a service tag knowing full well that I cannot receive warranty support without one. Please help me!

S2440L - Uneven brightness on all sides
Hi,
I bought this monitor a year ago. As time goes by, the uneven brightness starts to reveal itself and getting worst. I suspect it's excessive pressure applied to all sides of the panel. Please refer to the attached photo.
I did all the necessary troubleshooting from your website but no luck.
Kindly advise.
Thank you.
2314T Mac compatible??
Hi, I just got through on the chat with customer service and was told that the 2314T touchscreen was mac compatible. I was looking through the specs and the drivers and haven't found anything regarding mac compatibility. The rep seemed quite intent on selling me the monitor and so I'm suspicious that they just said yes to get me to buy it... Ive been looking for one that would work almost regardless of size because it has been impossible to find. I just want to know the truth, I don't want to buy 4 of them just to find out that it doesn't work and have to return them.
UP2414Q - Dual, issues on Macbook Pro
Hello,
I have two UP2414Q connected to a MacPro using the mDP-DP cables that came with the monitors. I'm using them both at 4K max resolution 60 Hz with 1.2 turned on.
UP2414Q, S/N CN-0WWRHC-74445-42M-251L, REV A01
I observing the following problem:
When the monitor is turned on or wakes from sleep, the intensity of the backlight will change at random times during the first 10 minutes. Once the monitor is "hot", the backlight intensity doesn't change any more. Note: I am not 100% sure it is the backlight that changes, but at random intervals the image flickers and the image feels suddenly subtly different. I first thought it randomly changed color profiles, but after careful consideration I think it is the backlight intensity that varies. It would go from let's say 20% to 30% and then back to 20% and then back to 30% every 30 to 90 seconds until it stops changing after 10 minutes approx. My other UP2414Q (S/N 181L) being turned on at the exact same time (same computer) doesn't do this. Is this a hardware problem?
UP2414Q, S/N CN-0WWRHC-74445-42M-181L, REV A01
The following problem is different and appears only on the serial number above. When the MacPro wakes from sleep this monitor doesn't wake up while the other one does. I have to power it down and up so it's seen by the Mac again. Is this a hardware problem?
S2340M, Graininess, movement, and darker blue green color on left side
Title pretty much says it all. I've tried running all diagnostics mentioned in other posts. Video card is a R9 270x connected with a DVI-D cable. This has been happening for some time off and on. Sometimes it lasts for a few days then goes away sometimes it's a week or so. Any other suggestions on how to fix this?

U2412M DP port version?
Can someone inform me on the version of the U2412M DP port?
Is it DP v1.2?
E228WFPc Monitor Issue
Yep, another one of those posts. Infamous E228WFP display problem.
Is it 100% confirmed that a bad inverter board is what causes the back light to suddenly turn off? I dismantled it to find the board, fiddled around with it (didn't see anything obviously wrong like blown caps) and put it back together. Instead of 2 seconds, ran for about 10 then started blanking again. Now it's back to 2 seconds.
Shining a flash light does show the dell test pattern on it.
It's real difficult to find the replacement boards (the part number for a revised board 715G2244-2 is near impossible to find, some chinese (knock offs?) come up for around $40 but I have no idea how good those are.
I love the size of this monitor and it's specs, but it's looking like it will get scrapped if I can't figure out a concrete answer on if it's the inverter board. Even other threads on the site here seem to say the replacement part number above may have the same problem?
It's a headache... Not sure where to go at this point
U2713HM - terrible quality resolution on Win8.1
I just upgraded my Dell Studio 1737 to Win 8.1 and used the display drivers included in the new OS. I also downloaded the new drivers and Dell Monitor Utility from support.dell.com. However, connecting to VGA (my laptop is older, no HDMI port), the screen resolution is horrendous, very fuzzy, the text is horrible (pixellated and fuzzy). I've tried every possible combination. Colors are wrong too. Any advice? Is there a problem with Win 8.1 and this laptop? It has an ATI Radeon card with 2MB graphic memory.
U2414H DisplayPort Daisy Chain/MST Resolution Issue
Hello,
I've got what appears to be a common problem with no solution on these pages; with DisplayPort MST.
I got two of these Dell monitors over the weekend, and spent around 3 hours trying to get MST to work with them. I got there eventually, and they worked great for about 36 hours.
In that time my computer rebooted twice with no issues. However, this morning I got up, powered on and the second in chain (End of my MST chain) suddenly is not recognized as a monitor. It displays my desktop, but only at 640x480. AMD Catalyst can see it, but refers to it as "No Display Connected".
My configuration is a Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 powering these two Dells (on a single DP MST chain), a Compaq Q2022a on HDMI and another on DVI. The first dell also has a USB Bluetooth and USB WiFi dongles plugged in, and the second dell draws it's USB capabilities from the first. Both were working absolutely fine when I went to bed, and this morning the second in the chain wasn't.
I'm looking to buy up to four more of these for a stacked tri-monitor setup, but I need them to be more reliable before I can justify spending that much! I love the thin bezel, and MST is a must for the setup I want, but the reliability is an essential too, I don't want to spend an hour a day fixing it all...
Thanks
ST2010 monitor, "disintegrating" text display
This problem may be linked to recent upgrade from WinXP to Win7 Pro (SP1), but I can't be sure. I have some screen captures below showing the problem -- black text on white background is not always solid. But if I scroll the screen up or down, so the problem text disappears and then reappears, it typically looks OK -- but other text may now be "disintegrating."
I have reset to factory settings and done the monitor self-test. I suspect (hope) a driver issue but WIndows insists it has the best driver, and Dell system analysis tool says "no updates needed." Resolution is set at 1600x900 @ 60Hz. System analysis says graphics card is RV770XT. All original Dell cables, nothing changed from a hardware standpoint during the OS upgrade.
Is this a sign that my 5-year-old monitor is dying? Seems such a coincidence that I noticed the problem right around the time of OS upgrade. I've searched for related posts but don't even know what to call the problem other than "disintegration."
TIA

Operating system: Windows 8.1 x64
Video card: AMD Radeon r9 280x series
Video card ports tested: Yes. Monitor Self-test:
Issue: Color at sides of screen and "Ripples" on right side of screen.
This is the monitor self test. The monitor is isolated from the PC and shows a green tinge on the left side, and magenta tinge on the right. The right side also shows horizontal "Ripples" moving downwards that the camera could not capture, and is extremely susceptible to screen burn ins. The middle is neutral gray.
This problem appears randomly. It comes and goes randomly, persisting from anywhere from a week to months. If left unplugged for a week or so, the problem seems to go away, but then comes back after a week of being plugged in. An adjacent monitor has been problem free.
Upon closer inspection, every second row of pixels is miscolored, with the ones in between the neutral gray.
on the right side some of the burn in from an address bar is visible. The rate at which images get burned-in is very fast.
Previously only the right side showed weird color. The left side was completely normal until today. This problem has been occuring since February.
