Dell U2717D setup

Hi,

I just got a Dell U2717D monitor. I'm trying to connect it to an old computer that only has DVI output (no HDMI or DisplyPort). Should I use a DVi to HDMI adapter to make it work? What would be the best possible resolution in this case? Is there a DVI to DisplyPort adapter that would also work?

Thanks for you answers and all the best!

Dell U2713HM Will Not Connect to Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter

I can't find instructions anywhere to connect this monitor to this display adapter.

I've hooked it up to my USB & HDMI on the bottom of the monitor.

I switched monitor to HDMI import.

Told Surface Pro 3 to connect

It scanned for wireless displays and found nothing

Pushed reset button on Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter for 10 seconds

I don't think there is power to my USB ports.  Is there anything I need to turn on the monitor to make this thing work?

U2414H Monitors "Power Save Mode" Issue. Please Help.

Two years back I have purchased two units of U2414H Monitor from Dell. The Monitor has great specification, slim sides and great for a dual Monitor set-up.

However, this is where my nightmare begins. If you have owned a U2414H you would the least know what was the issue with this. My monitor has been constantly going into "Power Save Mode" from time to time, and unfortunately there are no precise help and solutions given from Dell that actually works. My monitor set-up is as per below.

Monitor 1 : HDMI (Monitor) to HDMI (GPU)

Monitor 2 : HDMI (Monitor) to DVI (GPU)

The very first year of my monitor was horrifying, I tried various ways and solutions that have been mentioned or advised from the internet/forums but however non of them works. I replaced both of the monitors twice with Dell, but unfortunately the monitors problem still persist. These monitors has their very own unique attitude, they will either stay awake for a few minutes or they might just stay awake for a day then goes into Power Save Mode. I have no idea what's going on with them.

The second year is where I am trying to make some upgrades and changes on my desktop. I tried upgrading weird and irrelevant stuff like, the motherboard, processors, and lastly graphic card. I changed almost the entire pc, well I guess it is counted as a new pc since I changed every core part of a desktop. The problem persist throughout the entire process of upgrading until I upgraded my graphic card to the Asus GTI 970 Strix then the problem was solved. *Scratches Head* Then again, in between upgrades, I tried too many different solutions from the web and I am not able to recall what was the one that solves it.

For a whole 8 months, both of my monitors stayed awake without going into Power Save Mode. Until a month ago where my motherboard and graphic card got strikes by lightning. I sent both parts back for warranty and now I got them back in one piece. However, the "Power Save Mode" problem came back.

To date, Is there any Dell support personnel or any U2414H users that are able to provide me a proper guidelines or solutions that can solve this problem?

Thank you

Where can I download DUCCS to calibrate U2415 and U2412M monitors?

Hi, I would like to calibrate two monitors, a brand new U2415 and a three- or four-year-old U2412M. I have seen documentation for a Dell tool called Dell Ultrasharp Color Calibration System (DUCCS), but I am unable to find a download page for it on the Dell site--other links I've found just go to the Dell support landing page.

The older U2412M developed a pronounced artifact like a water stain on the right side (like this guy's U2412M) and it has shifted somewhat toward purple. The new U2415 looks as though it might be a bit too yellow. They are quite different side-by-side, and I would appreciate a tool that can help me calibrate both as well as possible.

Thanks!

Sales support Issue, Optiplex 3046

I ordered an optiplex 3046 micro with an "all in one" display mount and a P2417H monitor.  Pictures on the product page seemed to indicate that this would be a compatible mount for this display.  The product ordering page did not give a dell part number for this mount.

When my order was shipped, the mount received was for an E series display.

3 customer service and sales reps could not identify a monitor mount for an Optiplex 3046 Micro Form Factor which would be compatible with a Dell P2417H monitor.  I was told that Dell Part 482-BBBO would work with this monitor, which it will not.  This mount is designed for E series monitors, not  the P series.  After telling the rep that the mount was incompatible, I was not offered an alternate part to order and was told that I was incorrect in insisting that this part was incompatible with the P series monitor.  The product page for the optiplex 3046 shows other mounting options which appear to be compatible with the p series monitors.  I have already requested a return for the incompatible mount and would like to be shipped one which is compatible with the P2417H display.

I would like the following:

1. Part number of a correct mount that will work with the optiplex 3046 and P2417H

2. Product ordering web site to be updated to list actual part numbers of mounts so that in the future, customers will know exactly what they are ordering.

P2715Q, DP sync issues and hardlocking with R9 290

About 2x a week, my computer will appear awake but unresponsive.  It won't POST on reboot, but if I disconnect the monitor from the computer, turn it on, and then connect it again it'll load fine for a few more days before it happens again.  This has been happening intermittently since I got the monitor, but has ramped up from about once a month to multiple times a week.

This never happened with my old 2408WFP, which was also hooked up via DP.

Purchased and tried a DP 1.2 certified cable (listed below), but it had no effect on the behavior.

When that wasn't happening and my computer wakes up from sleep, the display driver (not the monitor itself) was always reporting display link errors but it went away in the last Radeon driver patch.

Buy a new monitor - poor customer service

Been using the Dell u2711 monitor for years now. I was previously using the DVI-D port, connecting the monitor to my graphics card. A new graphics card allowed me to try using the DisplayPort for the first time. I thought all was well until the monitor wouldn't switch on. It was completely dead. I replaced the plug fuse and all was working well again... until it wouldn't power on again. I went through 5 fuses.

I wondered if the monitor was on its way out, so I reconnected the DVI-D cable and haven't had any issues. The culprit seemed to be the DisplayPort.

I checked the warranty on the monitor and it ran out last year. I was advised to contact a Dell technician for out-of-warranty repair. Upon getting in touch, I was met with a maze of different options before connecting to a representative. I gave the service tag code and was put on hold for a long time. When I managed to speak to someone again I was asked what monitor it was. I was then put on hold again for a long time.

Finally managed to get through to a technician and rather bluntly was told that they will not repair the monitor. If it was under warranty and they found a fault they would replace it but they can't do that now. I tried to explain that in all this time I never used the DisplayPort, so there was no way of knowing that there was a fault with the monitor. They didn't care. I could send the monitor to them, but all they'd be able to do was find the fault with the monitor and send it back??

I asked if there was anything I could do to get it fixed, to which he replied... "buy a new monitor".

I find this level of customer service shocking. There was no room for considering the situation (I had never tried out the DisplayPort until recently) or even attempting to get the matter resolved. I find it difficult to believe that they don't repair monitors.

Dell's after sales support is absolutely appalling. I was given no help on the matter, or tips on what I could do to see if I could fix the problem myself. Only offered a very dismissive response of, "buy a new monitor". I would recommend potential Dell customers be cautious of having to deal with their poor customer services.

I am having trouble connecting the xps

8700 computer with p2217

monitor.  Are they even compatible?  I keep getting no VGA signal.  I have had two different p2217

monitors and get the same reply.  Have tried video adaptor and that doesn,t work either.  Can't do a factory reset on the monitor.  Nothing happens.  Get no DP signal too.  I worked with a Dell technician and we couldn't get it to work.  DEll sent me a replacement and that won't work either.  Any suggestions??

S2716DGR - Screen goes blank after 30 seconds, no OSD afterwards

Had the monitor since June, started happening yesterday.

Issue occurs on 2 different PC's and a PS4.

I power on the device, I can see then after 30 seconds the screen goes black.

When the device is on I can access the on screen display.

However, when it goes blank the buttons are non responsive.

The power button is lit on the monitor, when I press it, the light goes out.

However, afterwards it will not power the monitor back on.

I have to disconnect all the wires power included, wait 30 seconds, plug everything back in

This brings the screen back up, but the cycle starts again with 30 seconds of screen.

I have disabled deep sleep in the OSD, I tried both the included DP cable and HDMI

When I bought it from the Microsoft store they advised there was not an option for an extended warranty

Please advise how to proceed

P2214H DisplayPort 1.2 MST Capability

Hello,

I have two Dell P2214H monitors and was looking to utilize the DP 1.2 Capabilties but am unable to locate any settings within the menu to turn it on. It is listed as DP 1.2 compatible but I cannot locate any option to turn on MST within the menu settings. Is it the monitor not actually capable of this or is there a setting that I am missing?

Thank you!

P2214, what does "game" mode do?

I can't tell the difference between standard and "game" mode, and I want to know what the differences are. I turn it on anyway in case it makes it look better, but I'd like to know what it does, mainly out of curiosity rather than concern.

Whitish / brighter small area on U2515H

Recently I noticed a small whitish / brighter small area of irregular shape (~5mm in diameter) on my U2515H. It is most noticeable on white background. A photo is attached below and the mouse pointer is pointing right at the spot.

It doesn't look like dead / bright pixel as I used a LCD test util to cycle through colors and it just looked brighter than the surrounding.

It also doesn't look like a scratch damage as I checked it by look at the affected area at an angle and the surface is completely normal. I use the monitor for photo editing and treat it like a baby. It is so sad this is happening : (

After some online browsing it seems that it could be those "pressure marks".

I ordered this U2515H directly from Dell last April and I have a 5 year warranty.

My question is:  Is this kind of irregularity covered by warranty?

Thanks.

2015 MacBook Pro 13", U3415W, U2715H, Mirror not extended?

Hi,

I got the 2015 MacBook Pro 13" with Intel Iris Graphics 6100 GPU

It is connected via DP to a  U3415W which is connected to U2715H via DP

I turned DP 1.2 on on the 34" and made sure it's off on the 27"

Both the displays work but the picture on the 27" is a mirror of the 34" and under arrangement in mac os menu I can only see the 34" screen.

1. Is this setup supported for multi monitors?

2. What should I do to make it work?

I also have a similar problem as in this thread. Strange noisy pink ghosting on some color transitions. The response time option has no effect, changing the color settings causes the problem to appear in a different place. I have managed to take some pictures:

It also happens when I drag the mouse over a folder in windows explorer:

I can't test the monitor with another computer, but none of my other displays behave like this when connected to this PC. Is this a problem with my unit or do all of them have this issue?

blue tint on Monitor U2413

Hi,

I have a Monitor U2413f (Jan 2013). All Videos (e.g. local *.mov or youtube HTML5 in Browser) have a blue tint - sometimes. It changed irregular. The rest of the displayed content is normal - only Video and a frame of ca. 10 pixels. While I'm looking for the cause of trouble I determine, that there's a problem with communication between monitor and computer:

I reduced the saturation of the monitor to zero (means black-and-white) and the Video continues being coloured (screenshot! How can I add a picture?).

What is going on there??? Please, somebody could explain me that? Maybe there's a solution?

A vertical line of black pixels

$

Hi all,

I purchased a Dell U2414h on August 3, 2015. It was performing fine for about a year until yesterday. The U2414h has this persistent vertical black line of pixels. I have been researching if they are any ways to remedy this issue. As of right now I have concluded that a replacement monitor may be in order. Here are the things that led up to my conclusion:

  1. I have used three different computers to make sure it was not an issue with the computer itself. I have tested the monitor with a Surface Pro 4, Dell Inspirion 7352, and a custom built computer with a Nvidia GTX 780. All systems had the latest drivers for their respective display adapters. As a result, the vertical black line was persistent on all instances. It should be noted that this monitor is used primarily with the custom computer with the GTX 780.
  2. On each instance I have used the mini-DP cable that was supplied with the monitor and I also used a new HDMI cable for each test with a different computer. The line was persistent on each test using the new HDMI cable and the included mini-DP cable.
  3. I have also used the OSD to factory reset the settings on the monitor, but this did not fix the issue.
  4. I have used the self-diagnostic test, which displayed different solid colors of the monitor. The line was persistent on all colors except of black, but this is to be expected since the issue is a black line. I will include a photo of the issue on normal desktop background and a photo for each color on the Self-test.
  5. At this point, I have looked into the warranty that Dell provides for this monitor.
  6. According to the Dell knowledge base a monitor replacement maybe warranted if there is more than 6 dark sub-pixels on a Ultrasharp monitor. I believe that a vertical black line is more than 6 pixels. Source: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/SLN130145#PremiumPanelGuarantee
  7. I believe that this monitor does carry the 3-year warranty.
  8. A potential issue with purchasing this monitor from Amazon.com, where the monitor was shipped and sold by Amazon.
    1. Since this monitor was not purchased directly from Dell there is no service tag associated with this monitor.
    2. As a result, I found this post regarding Monitor warranties and replacement instructions. I'm pretty sure that I need to get a dummy service tag. Source: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/t/19679196

Any guidance on the exact steps to remedy this monitor would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the necessary data about the monitor:

  • Reason line = Dell U2414h, persistent black vertical line.
  • 20 digit alpha-numeric monitor serial number: CN-0R9F1P-74261-54S-474L
  • Manufactured date: April 2015
  • The computers tested with this monitor: Surface Pro 4, Dell Inspirion 7352, and Custom computer with Nvidia GTX 780.
  • Operating system: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
  • Video card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780
  • Video card drivers: GeForce Game Ready Driver - WHDL Version 372.70
  • Video card ports: DP, HDMI, DVI-I, DVI-D
  • Video card ports used with monitor: DP and HDMI
  • Cables: the supplied mini-DP to DP and a VIZIO HDMI cable
  • Windows power plan: High performance
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz
  • Purchase location: The monitor was purchased from Amazon.com, where the unit was shipped and sold by Amazon

When I try to connect my new MacBook 12" 2016 with a Dell P2715Q through the hdmi cable and the Apple HDMI/USB-C adapter it flickers or blacks out.

I tried different hdmi cables (that works), two HDMI/USB-C adapters, cleaning up the PRAM from the mac and resetting to factory settings on the monitor, but no improvement.

The model is a rev A03 from June 2015 with serial number: <Admin note = Private data deleted>

Thanks for troubleshooting this!
