I have an XPS-8900 on order equipped with the GeForce GTX 745 video card. The computer hasn't arrived but the monitor did, I've determined that the video card will not support the U2515H at its native resolution via HDMI (the only connector the monitor and card have in common) without stepping the refresh rate down to 30 Hz. This is unacceptable, especially given that the U2515JH was shown as a "Dell recommends" selection at the time I was configuring the PC. The card has no Displayport output, which is needed to get the native resolution at 60 Hz.
I was considering just returning it all once the PC arrives arrives, but was also considering biting the bullet and buying a new video card with a Displayport output. It looks like the GTX960 would work, but could anyone confirm that this would give me the full native resolution of the U2515H and work with the XPS-8900 without upgrading the power supply? Also, given the fact that Dell's website suggested an inappropriate combination of card and monitor, would it be possible to return the GeForce 745 for credit towards a GeForce 960? Eating the 745 would bring the system price close to a 5K 27" iMac, and if that's the case, I'll send the Dell back and just get the iMac. Thanks.
