U3011T (A07) LCD Monitor Not Waking Up But Only When There Are 2 DVI Cables Plugged In

I have a U3011T (A07).  Connected to it is a lThinkPad laptop (Win7) in a docking station  connected via DVI single-link cable.  Two other computers (I'll call them Computer A and Computer B) are connected via VGA to the monitor's VGA port (routed via a KVM switch).  I also have a cable box attached via the HDMI port.  The monitor would wake up fine with the laptop UNTIL I recently decided to upgrade Computer A with a dual-link DVI cable plugged into the second DVI port of the U3011T.   If I move the mouse or tap the keyboard I see the laptop waking up but the monitor does not.  The only way I've been able to get it to recognize the signal is to unplug the DVI cable and then plug it back in.   I did a test this weekend and it appears this condition only happens if BOTH DVI PORTS in the U3011T have cables plugged in them; when I removed the dual link DVI cable, the monitor wakes up just fine again.   I've reset the monitor to factory defaults but that didn't change anything.  Also to note, the monitor receives signal from the other input sources (like the cable box) if I cycle through the input sources. I've even tried to cycle the laptops video output (Function - F7) but nothing is triggering the monitor to wake up.

Bottom line, not sure why the monitor won't wake up if 2 DVI cables are plugged in.
