Dell U2415 - sound port on monitor (sound over displayport) has audible hiss when no other sound is playing

Hi,

I am having troubles with two U2415 monitors I purchased this week, when I plug headphones into the monitor there is a low volume hiss sound generated from the monitor. When I plug the headphones into respective computer's sound port, there is no hiss - just silence.

It's not a problem when some other sound is playing, but having the headphones on while there is nothing else playing is annoying and makes it hard to focus.

The sound is delivered to the monitors over displayport, and the volume is controlled by the OS (Win10 / OSX via soundflower).

The computers and the monitors are all on the same ground/outlet.

Is there some way to fix this? I am at a loss, and frankly the sound port on the monitor is unusable in this state. It would be great to get it to work, because that would mean I could reduce the number of cables I need to plug / unplug when moving stuff around.

Please find information about my computer(s) setup below.
