I just bought a new Dell U2414H monitor last week (bought on Amazon) and am having problems with it. I have a Lenovo laptop (Windows 7) and am trying to connect the new monitor as my second display. I have changed the power settings on my computer several times and I do see the Dell monitor display but when I close my laptop it goes back to the Lenovo monitor or shuts down. I have changed the power setting so it is not supposed to shut down when I close the lid. Also, even though I have set a screensaver and also the sleep mode, the monitor just stays on all the time and nothing happens. I've tried going on the Dell website for support but I can't get anywhere because it doesn't detect my product for some reason and I can't find a service tag number on the back of the monitor. Is there one somewhere else on this particular model? All I see is the serial number and UPC and EAN numbers but nothing else. I've also tried calling Dell and their support wouldn't help me without a service tag either! I ran the Dell System Detect and can open the Display Manager but that doesn't resolve anything. I know I have connected everything correctly because the monitor is showing up under my Devices. Is there any kind of online manual or something? I am totally stuck - any suggestions on how to get help?
