I just got my U2415 today and hooked it up to my MacBook Pro. It looks fine. I also got the AC511 SoundBar and attached it. Sounds fine.
Then I attached the USB cord between the monitor and my Mac, and plugged some stuff in to the USB ports on the monitor:
- HP 1012 laser printer
- Brother MFC 465CN all-in-one printer
- Apple USB SuperDrive (CD/DVD)
- OWC external hard drive
- SoundBar (to USB port with lightning symbol)
The Brother was able to print, but the HP showed as offline when I tried to print to it. And I got a notification on my Mac saying the SuperDrive needed to be attached to the Mac for power.
So, why did the Brother print but the HP didn't? And what can I use the monitor's USB ports for? Why are they there if they don't work with most peripherals?
Thank you for your help.
