2408WFP No HDMI message when hibernates

Have a dell monitor 2408WFP. Was using with VGA and win xp no problems. Changed to a Win 8 desktop PC and use with a HDMI cable. But this way when the PC hibernates I get a moving message box that saids no HDMI connection. Instead of a blank screen with VGA. Anyway to get rid of this. Tried to update drivers but not sure I was doing it right since no instructions for win 8 on dell site. In device manager saids driver is:
Generic PNP monitor
Provider Microsoft
File ver 6.2.9200
Windows\system32\drivers\monitor.sys
