What cable are you using to attach the video card to the monitor? - Dell supplied DisplayPort to mini DisplayPort cable, the one came with to monitor
Press the monitor Menu button to open the monitor OSD (On Screen Display). The bottom of that screen should show a resolution. That resolution should match the monitor default resolution -resolution set to 2560x1080 60Hz, which matches the monitor's default resolution

Hello, I have a U2913WM monitor that has a vertical line of dark pixels showing up on the screen. The pixels extend from the top of the screen to the bottom. I used restoring the monitor to Factory Defaults by the OSD and Self-Test and BID but it remains the same. I connect the monitor to my Macbook as a second extension monitor. Any idea? I purchased the monitors in Nov or Oct 2013 from Newegg.
