U2417H, USB ports not functioning

$

Hello,

I've been using a Dell U2417H monitor for about a month or so now. Purchased new. The two high-speed USB 3.0 ports on the left edge of the monitor don't function, nor do to the two on the back of the monitor function. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on a Dell Inspiron 560 tower. Am considering moving to Windows 10 Pro very soon. Have connected the supplied (with monitor) USB cable to connect the computer to the monitor. Cable is properly connected to the monitor, and is connected to a third-party USB 3.0 on the back side of the Inspiron 560 computer. In Device Manager I show under Other devices two items: USB2137B and USB5537B which I am assuming are my USB device(s) integrated into the monitor. I am comfortable in this assumption, as when I unplug the USB cable from the back of the computer that connects to the monitor, I get a corresponding sound, and the devices disappear from Device Manager. I have inquired with Dell a few weeks ago, only to be given the obvious disconnect/reconnect, power down and back on and some nonsense about changing my connection to HDMI (which I am using), as if that would make any difference. I have searched cumulatively for about five hours on three occasions without coming across any specific drivers or chipset installers that might solve the lack of function of these two pairs of ports.I would guess that they should just work with the built-in USB drivers in the operating system. I have installed the latest chipset driver for my Dell Inspiron 560 today. I have tried installations of a couple different flavors of USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Drivers, to no avail. I would appreciate anyone that may have some insight as to a solution to my issue coming forth with some words of wisdom for me.

Thanks,

John

Dell XPS 15 connected to Dell P2715Q 4K monitor via OWC 13 Port Thunderbolt 3 Dock

I have my XPS laptop connected to the OWC 13 Port Thunderbolt 3 Dock via a TB3 cable.  I have my P2715Q (Dell 27 inch 4K monitor) connected using the mini Display Port out of the Dock to the Display Port into the monitor.  I am successful in using the full capability of the monitor at 3840 x 2160 resolution at 60 Hz.  All is good until sometimes the display reverts to 1920 x 1200 resolution.  The laptop still shows it is set at 3840 x 2160, but the monitor reverts to a lower resolution.  If I unplug the mini DP from the dock and plug it back in again, I am able to get the monitor to go back to full 3840 x 2160 resolution on its own.  This seems to happen when the monitor goes into sleep mode and when it wakes up it is at a reduced resolution.  Also, lately on starting up of the computer, it is coming up at the 1920 x 1200.  Again, I just unplug and re-plug the mini display plug on the back of the docking station and all is good.  I have gotten no where with tech help from OWC, they suggested using this forum.

Thanks in advance, tgus15068

I recently bought a brand new Dell monitor P2415Q. After connecting power cable it showed Red, blue, green lights only in sequence. I attached all type of connectors (HDMI,Display port etc) but it shows nothing but RGB lights,no menu, nothing . I think it's a defected piece which they have sold. And this is really frustrating that the brand new Dell monitor is not working, it's stopped all my office work and I am not getting any support as helpline hung up after putting me on hold. This was not expected from a company like "Dell".

I need help urgently!!!!!!.

P4317Q and DDM

Hello, and Happy Holidays!

I have recently upgraded from my old Dell P2407WFP to a newer, more modern Dell P4317Q.  The quality of the previous monitor still impresses me all these years later, so when it come to upgrading I had already decided "It has to be Dell".

The P4317Q is advertised as a multi-client monitor, yet the multi-client support is terrible!  With the size of the monitor, many users will have it placed out of arms reach, yet the only 'simple' way to operate the monitor is through the OSD, which isn't exactly arranged in an ideal manner for efficiency..  Unlike my previous Dell Monitor which could simply switch between inputs with a single button, and enable/switch PIP/PBP with again, a single button.  No complicated moving back and forth through a menu system while stretched 4 feet over a desk trying to read the OSD text.  I have to question why the P4317Q has such poor initial controls because, for my own use and opinion, it renders the capability and purpose of the monitor as void.  Upon researching a way around this, the best I could find was Dell Display Manager commands, and thanks to Community user 'Swamped' I was able to discern commands which I could use from my main Windows Desktop to switch between sources.  It's not ideal, but I can work with it.  Upon further reading of Swamped's expertise of the command language, he explained a method in which controlling the PBP and PIP functions could be controlled for this particular monitor (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/t/20026015) - none of these commands work on my end, so I did some further digging about DDM.  The user manual for the monitor Dell U3818DW shows options for controlling the inputs by a tab on DDM, and reading on the latest release of DDM it mentions

"08/02/2016 - 1.26.1754
- Improved exception handling
- Added Input Manager
- Added PIP/PBP mode hotkeys"

As an alternative to easily accessible buttons on the monitor, this seemed to be the best solution for me...  However, I don't have any such options on DDM.

So now my conundrum is whether this Monitor is right for me.  In this price range and with the Dell name behind it, I highly expected some basic features as standard.  The latest version of the DDM software does not have the features listed which would make the Monitor more assessable from a desktop input.  Is there something I am missing with this software, or is it only for particular monitors.  I feel like for a monitor where one of the top selling points is "Multi-client" that such features would be essential.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide.

U2715H, Dual, Precision 5510, WD15 dock, resolutions

Hello! I have a Dell Precision 5510 which is connected to a Dell WD15 dock via USB-C. The dock is connected to a Dell U2715H monitor via mDP, which is also daisy chained to another U2715H. The problem I'm having is that only the monitor connected to the dock has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 while the monitor that is daisy chained has a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Upon looking through the manuals for both the precision and the dock, I should have the capability for max resolution on both of these monitors. However, I'm not sure what I'm missing. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Can someone explain why I have these two different resolution numbers showing in the menu of my SE2717H? It's a 75mhz monitor.  Why does 60mhz appear with "maximum"

U2717D, Daisy Chain Blurry Image

Hi,

I've successfully daisy chained via DP 2 monitors together. It's currently setup as follows:

Laptop mDP -> mDP to DP cable -> U2717D DP input (DP 1.2 enabled and MST enabled)

U2717D DP output -> DP to DP cable -> Asus Monitor input (No settings I can change)

I'm able to change the resolution on both monitors, they all extend etc. etc.

My problem is with the Dell U2717D monitor, currently the image is very blurry.

The maximum resolution that Windows 10 can set is 2048 x 1080 (60hz), but I understand that the monitor supports upto 2560 x 1440 for MST - but that option is not available.

Sharpening the image in the settings doesn't really provide a good clear image.

The Asus monitor works perfectly and can scale to a crisp and clean 3840 x 2160 @ 60hz.

Is there any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong here to get a clearer image on the Dell Monitor?

Alex

DELL U2518D - green color problem with DisplayPort

$

Hi again,

I found another bug in Dell U2518D (besides the tearing problem), this time it is the problem with green color when monitor is connected through DisplayPort. It is actualy very similar, or I may say exactly the same problem like with U2718Q:

en.community.dell.com/.../20023864

In case of U2518D it is exactly the same, when using DisplayPort, every green about 215-255 looks like 255 (full green). And just like with U2718Q, with HDMI, there is absolutely no problem with green or any other color and image is perfectly fine.

Just couple of images demonstrating the problem:

DisplayPort

HDMI

Monitor: DELL U2518D REV 00 (firmware M2T101)
GPU: EVGA GTX960 4GB SSC
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

I also tried to change version of DisplayPort but it didn't help.

And another point, as I stated in previous thread, I did have also the newer REV 01 of U2518D with firmware M2T102 and as I don't have it anymore, I can't verify it for sure, but I think, that there was no problem with green color, because I noticed different green color reproduction between REV 00 and REV 01. And it makes perfect sense, why boxes (3,4a,4b,7a,7b) on this pixel walk test:

www.lagom.nl/.../inversion.php

looks on my monitor (REV 00/M2T101) green, but it should looks gray, and indeed, on the REV 01/M2T102 it really looked gray, but the boxes 4a/4b was flickering a lot, but that is another story.

So the point is, that DELL obviously know about this problem with U2518D and actually fixed it either with REV 01 or firmware M2T102. But I cannot find the newer firmware for U2518D in the download options on support page. So I don't know if it is possible to upload M2T102 firmware on REV 00 monitors, or how should I solve this problem?

Thank you

Is my S2716DG Faulty? (Banding)

Hello,

I have recently purchased a S2716DG AO7 Revision. It came with horrible banding issues, which I thought were heavily toned down in this revision. I'm on a 980 ti. I have tried various fixes, but none seem to work. I know it's a TN Panel, but I'm wondering if the banding is supposed to be this bad, or it's a problem with the monitor.

Below are some pictures, while I tried to watch a video or used a dark image. This problem only seems to pop up with dark gradients and i'm wondering if I should try to get another one, or the monitor is simply like this.

S2417DG Dead Pixels on Arrival

Hi,

What is the current policy on dead pixels for Dell monitors?

I just received my Dell S2417DG from Newegg yesterday and there are, from what I can tell, a cluster (3-4) of dead pixels just off center of my monitor?

I know there are rules/limitations to dead pixels and how many need to be on a monitor - what are they currently?

A bit upset that a $350 monitor would have something like this wrong with it.

Thanks

Hello community, I have been a happy owner of the 38 inch ultrasharp monitor thus far. But when I tried to update the firmware today ( exactly following the procedures listed in the update manual), midway between the update process. the monitor went blank with out any error message.

Now, I am at a point where i can not even turn on the monitor at all. Has anyone encountered this issue before ??  Or anyone knows of a way to hard reset the monitor so that I can get it to turn it on ?

S2417DG Burn In Mode starts on its own + can't overclock

I own this monitor since January 2017, bought it brand new online on dell website. For the first month I had no problem with the monitor. However, since February 2017, I currently have 2 problems with it and I've tried all the solutions that I've read on most forum and they did not work. I was bummed out that my brand new monitor didn't work as advertise.

My pc was also built at the same time I bought the monitor, so all the component are only 1 year old. But, I had the burn in mode with the flash of four color appeared (green, red, white and blue) in February 2017 and at the same time I noticed that my monitor wouldn't overclock to 165 Hz like it used to for the first month. I know that I have a 3 Years Advanced Exchange Service, so I don't know if it's here that I need to post to get more information so I can fix it.

I've tried unplugging the DP cable, resetting the display (nothing changes when I click on it true the monitor buttons near the power button), unplugging from the GPU (Nvidia gtx 1070), updating my GPU driver, checking for monitor driver update, etc.

I don't know what to do to fix these 2 problems which I think are related.

Dell, why? Why not just to reuse one from P2715Q — good looking, informative, convenient in use. Instead those pixelated fonts, icons, current resolution info buried somewhere inside. Just make one more FW update to get it back.

Hi, I have a problem ...
I saw an update of the FW of my U3415W. The problem is that I can not get the monitor to be detected by the software.
