I have just purchases a Dell U2413, which I have had for a week. Before purchasing this screen I rang Dell sales and asked if this screen would work on a Windows XP Pro computer system, and that I would be using it for photographic work. I was told that it would, and would be ideal for that type of work at that price. I also checked details on the web and read reviews, I did not find anything to contradict that, some adds actually mention that is works with XP Pro, Dells website does not say it does, or does not, which is why I rang.
When installing the monitor, it does work, but it does not recognise any drivers, and I am unable to assign a driver to the monitor. Each time I try I get a message saying that is it not a valid colour profile. I have tried the one that came with the screen, and also tried the AdobeRGB 1998.icc, srgb,s in fact most drivers that I have, all with the same result.
As the screen works and selects something I tried to calibrate it with a Spyder Elite colour profiler, and when finished I get the same answer, this is not a valid colour profile.
I have tried the screen on my MSI Win 8.1 laptop, but win 8.1 is so frustrating, I have not been able to see what driver is any has been selected.
My questions are,
Could there be a fault with the monitor as it does not recognise any ICC or ICM colour profiles, which my old Dell monitor does.
Does the U2413 monitor actually work on XP Pro.
If so, how do I go about setting it up, as I have been told since that the software that comes with the screen is not compatible with anything Prior to Win 7.
Once working, can the screen be calibrated with the Spyder Elite Pro colour calibrating system.
