My monitor refuses to enter power save mode with HDMI cable plugged in. Works perfect with a normal monitor cable but not the HDMI.

I am running Windows 7 and a Nvidia Ge force video card from dell.
How can I fix this issue so I can sleep at night since my computer is in my bedroom?
