UP3216Q sleep/wake issue

I have a UP3216Q connected to a GTX 970 as a primary monitor on Windows 10.  Running 4K@60hz using display port to mini-dp cable supplied with the monitor.   Problem is that if the monitor is power sleeping at time of power on (Ie monitor switched on but pc not powered up quick enough) the pc does not acknowledge the display exists.  Likewise when pc sleeps, upon waking the monitor usually doesn't respond in time so my second monitor (Trusty  2408WFP) ends up being the only one available.  Sometime disconnecting the dp cable works, other times its a reboot.   NVidia control panel shows the monitor in its list within the 'set up multiple displays' but you cant tick it.  If I power off the monitor it displays from the list and reappears when the monitor is powered on but you still cant select it.

Spent a lot of money on a monitor that needs constant reboots and fiddling to make it work where as my previous Dells just worked faultlessly for years.  Not a good advertisement of a product which is otherwise excellent.

Any ideas how to resolve this or is this a nasty firmware bug that's never going to be fixed?

Thanks
