I have a Compac PC running Windows 7 Home Premium. I had to replace a generic monitor that was dying and bought a DELL E2314HSC1 monitor. The salesman assured me it would work with a non-DELL computer.
The PC recognizes it only as the previously attached generic monitor. The DELL Manager software installed, but does not work because the PC still "thinks" the old monitor is attached.
I thought about uninstalling the old monitor and seeing if it would then recognize the DELL, but I'm afraid that then I would not have any monitor access at all if it didn't recognize it.
It is attached via the cable with the blue plugs. My PC does not have the inputs for the one with the gray plugs. (Sorry, I don't know what either of those is called, but I hope you experts out there will know what I mean).
Any suggestions?
