I have an EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB FTW card with two Dell U2713HM 27 Inch Flat Panel Monitors and one Dell UltraSharp U3415W 34 inch Flat Panel Monitor. The 27 inch monitors are connected via DisplayPort to Displayport and the 34 inch monitor is conected via DisplayPort to Mini-DisplayPort. I normally leave my system running at night but I like to turn the power off on all the monitors. If I do this on just the 27 inch monitors, all window positions and sizes remain and when I turn the monitors back on, all windows are where I left them. However, if I do this with the 34 inch monitor, it is disabled completely as if it were unplugged from the graphics card (i.e. icons are moved, open apps are moved and resized to fit on the other monitors). I also get a message that "A toolbar is already hidden on this side of your screen." and I have to reset this in taskbar properties.
I have researched this and there were recommendations of using the nVidia Control Panel to change the EDID to use a file instead the Monitor. Unfortunately, it looks like this setting is not available on GeForce cards but is available on Quadro cards. See sites.google.com/.../displayportblanking
There was also a suggestion to disable the "DisplayData Channel Command Interface" (DDC/CI) in your monitor settings. I did this and it made no difference. I am running the latest nVidia driver, V 361.43
It is very annoying and time consuming to have to rearrange windows any time the monitor is turned off. How can I fix this?
