U2414H, screen stays black when I sign out

Ever since I installed my new Dell U2414H monitor (serial number CN-0R9F1P-74261-588-2TWL A03), the screen goes black when I “Sign Out” from one user in order to logon as a different user. I have to power the monitor off/on to get the screen back. My PC is a Dell XPS-8300 running Windows 10 with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650Ti video card. The monitor is connected by an HDMI cable and is set to the recommended 1080p, 1920x1080 resolution at 60Hz. I went to the NVIDIA web page and updated to the newest driver (355.98). I also went to Dell’s web page and installed all of the recommended drivers for my PC. Unfortunately, the problem still exists.

The NVIDIA video card has One Dual Link DVI-I, One Dual Link DVI-D, One Mini HDMI display connector. I am using the mini HDMI and an HDMI cable to connect to one of the HDMI ports on the monitor. I have tried both HDMI ports on the monitor with no success.

I am using the balanced power setting (recommended) which turns the display off after 10 minutes and puts the computer to sleep after 30 minutes. I have also tried setting both times to never but that does not solve the problem.

I tried reconnecting my old Dell S2340T (Multi-Touch) monitor and the problem goes away. The old monitor was connected by the same HDMI cable and was also set to 1080p and 1920x1080 resolution at 60Hz. The reason for replacing the old monitor was that it would frequently loose its calibration and think that someone was touching the screen at the top, which would make the mouse jump around, and made using it very nearly impossible.

All hardware was purchased from Dell. I have tried all of the steps described in the “read this before posting” item to no avail. The only step that I was not able to try was the “Hard” reset which my monitor does not have (not in the manual either).

So what do we do to prevent the U2414H monitor from going black when I sign out? Thanks.
