Hello, I have a serious issue with the Dell Monitor Webcam. This seemed to be the most appropriate forum to ask this question.
The Dell webcam I'm using is SP2208WFP.
My issue is that while the webcam is detectable in the device manager, working properly and the drivers are as up-to-date as possible for this old model, it does not work with Skype, Tinychat or even the webcam center on my computer. Tinychat indicates that the webcam is being used by another program and Skype simply shows a spinning loading ring. The Dell Webcam Center says that the webcam is not connected. Furthermore, the microphone on the webcam is working fine, but the video is what I'm having trouble with. The light only turns on when I turn the mic on using Skype or Tinychat despite the video not working but otherwise, the light remains off when the mic is not in use. This problem began about 2 days ago.
I have attempted several ways of troubleshooting this with no success:
- The drivers were updated
- The webcam was uninstalled and reinstalled
- I have reset my monitor and the computer multiple times
- I have found the physical object name for the webcam and searched it within my Process Manager without finding any programs that are using it.
I am completely out of ideas. If the webcam is in fact being used by another program, which is unlikely because I have searched through every process to determine if there is another program running for my computer or within my network, then I would greatly appreciate it if someone knew which programs could be using the webcam.
The only other idea I have for fixing this problem is performing a system restore because this problem only started occurring 2 days ago, but I would prefer if there were simpler methods of fixing this.
