I bought 2 U2713HMt monitors from Dell about a year ago. Everything has been working fine till now.
I moved place and the cables got lost for the monitors. I bought 2 new cables, both of which are DVI-DL cables.
They both look similiar. One is gold coloured the other is silver coloured. The silver coloured cable achieves max res on both monitors on both graphics cards.
The gold coloured one achieves a res of 1920x1080 and any higher the sypmtoms are the same as what this user describes.

I am not sure what the issue is here. I keep going out to buy DVI-DL cables however they all keep having the same problem. Its retarded cause right now Ive got 2 monitors. 1 is max res the other is at HD res which stinks.
