Problem:
White "fringing" bands are visible near the center of the screen on both sides (see pic). They are very prominent when viewing any sort of white background (text editors etc.), and lighter gray shades. And no, I'm not referring to grayscale banding which is a different issue. This panel has uniform, artifact free whites mostly (90% places), and only three places across the screen suffer from this artifact.
Things I've ensured, tried and failed:
- Adjusting brightness / contrast, even downgrading from the native resolution
- Plugging it into two different laptops instead of my regular work desktop
- Changing the graphics card on my desktop
- Ensuring a quality, stabilized (with a voltage regulator) power line from the first use
- Ensuring that there are no magnetic appliances nearby, or anything that can cause disturbances
None of the above has helped.
What worked:
- A very gentle (single finger, ultra-light pressure) on the areas gets rid of the bands / fringes completely! But surely, that's not a solution by any means.
This is a premium panel from the UltraSharp family, and quite frankly, I'm shocked. My previous purchase (2408WFP) never had this problem through some 8 years of heavy usage.
Here are the codes from the back of the monitor (and it is not found by the product finder and I couldn't add it to my account).
Please advise on how to proceed.
(The artifact is very hard to capture on a camera for reasons I can't explain, but it is conspicuous to the eye and can be seen effortlessly). A full resolution image is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6zPNR9DHCOoOFRLRlpTOVV0c3c/view
