Hello,
Because I got the bad news of having cataracts, until the surgery (both having it and being able to afford it), I'm going to a third monitor. I decided to add it for three reasons:
* I already own it and am saving my money for the surgery and lenses.
* It can flip into portrait mode, which is good for reading books and writing.
* The pixels are an OK size (19 inches at 1024x1280).
My issue is installing it with Windows 7. Windows 7 sees it as a generic PnP monitor. After going to the Dell Drivers and Support Files, I obtained the file:
DELL_1908FP_A00-00_R211147.EXE
I followed the directions to run the file and allow it to create a new directory (C:\dell\drivers\R211147) and then to run the program found there and follow the directions. The problem is simple. There is no executable nor "read me" file and thus no instructions to follow. I tried using the Device Manager and updating the drivers, but again no go as it doesn't recognize the files as having any value in updating the monitor in Windows. The files the executable uncompressed are:
1908fp.cat
1908FP.icm
1908FP.inf
The INF file won't install by itself nor will the device update recognize it. NOTE: The monitor works, but the driver file looks to be incomplete. I noticed another thread (in the laptop section) asking the same thing BUT no one ever replied and its from 2009. Yes, I know this is an old monitor, BUT the last driver update is from June 2013 so it was "active" less than 2 years ago. To also help and insure you can see what I'm seeing (and to help you verify I'm correct in my facts), I took a screenshot showing:
- The three extracted files found the C:\Dell\Drivers directory.
- The Device Manager entries for the monitor in question and other monitors on the system.

Oh! For those interested the monitors (3 of them) attached to the T7500 look like this:

Monitor Serial Number: If you need it, I'll give it to you. I just don't want to share a serial number on an open forum. I hope you understand.
