Never ever again

This might sounds like a hater' speech, but it isn't.

For long, i've been a loyal customer to Dell monitors, but it's after 6 disappointing monitors worthing thousands of euros, i've just decided to never buy monitors from Dell again.

So here's my history :

2011 : bought 2x U2711.  At the time, those babies cost around 800 €, so pretty high end right ? Besides it was part of the Ultrasharp series. After a few months, on monitor started to have very strange behaviour, including one half or the other of the screen to get many artifacts, and this was happening very often, like 3 to 4 times a day. How to fix it ? I figured out punching it a little bit on the top was solving the problem for a few hours. As this was hard to describe and diagnose, and i needed my monitors, i decided not to go for RMA.

2013 : being tired of this problem and needing 1 more monitor, i ordered 2 new U2711. Brand new from the factory, they eventually got the same kind of sickness. Both of them. Which make it 3 out of 4 !

2014 : bought the new UP3214Q. At 2000 €, you'd expect a perfect screen. Well even on day 1, the screen had several issues like only one half was on (the other being black), and the computer wouldn't see it like a 3840x2160 but rather like a 1920x2160 monitor. Reboot was sometimes needed to fix it. A few weeks after getting it, it had a very weird thin red line in the middle of it, vertically. Very disturbing when you're trying to concentrate. So it went back for RMA.

2015 : got a new UP3214Q as a replacement, and though the "half screen issue" is gone, the red line appears from time to time. And now appears a new symptom : the screen will very often decide that it's no longer getting any video signal. I'm on Windows desktop, i start a game or any full screen application; the screen goes black, and it will never get back. It's happening on several PC, several graphics cards, and although the HDMI will display something, switching back to DP (or switching the screen off and on) wouldn't do it.

So here i go, 6th defective screen, all of them from the Ultrasharp line. I'm done with this madness, i have more valued things to do than to troubleshoot and RMA my monitors, especially when i spend 2k€ on them.

Sadly, i might spread the word around me as i think such problems are truly unacceptable for such high end products.
