Just purchased a new monitor, and am having a strange problem. When I attach the monitor to my computer (IBM T61p laptop, Intel 965 graphics chip, VGA connect with cable that came with new monitor) and boot, everything that should ordinarily be white becomes bright yellow. (This isn't like the yellow tint problem some people have, it's pure, saturated yellow.) It even happens to the POST text, so it can't be due to the OS. (OpenSuSE 13.1).
Yet if I plug the VGA cable into my old monitor (Dell 2001FP) and boot, and then swap the cable back to the new one, I get normal white, and just need to use xrandr to reset the display. So it can't really be a monitor defect, can it? (And the monitor's self-test shows all colors as they should be, as do messages and the on-screen messages.
I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this. I really like the monitor when the colors are right, but I'm not going to be swapping cables every time I boot. Any suggestions?
