Purchased TWO st2421l monitors in December of 2012 (19 months ago) from Staples.
One of them started displaying a dark spot (as shown in pic) several weeks ago.
It's the monitor, because I unplugged it from everything and ran the self-test diagnostics. The dark spot appears on all of the diagnostic screens. (except black of course)
If I turn the monitor off and on, the spot disappears for a while (sometimes several hours), but eventually it comes back. Same is true if I go into the OSD and switch the input back and forth between auto and the actual input.
I've been in IT for 30 years and have had, and have seen, a lot of monitors - never one that lasted less than two years. This is terrible.
And for me, my two monitors match, and it's nice - not only cosmetically, but they're side-by-side, and the exact height so it's easy on the eyes when transitioning from one to the other. Any new monitor replacement, and it will just not be the same.
From the looks of it on these forums (laptops as well), Dell has a problem with monitors (backlight or whatever) this is just not conducive with quality.
I hope Dell will make this right with me - I'm not a rich person, and monitors should last more than 20 months. I'm 7 months out of warranty, but I'm hoping Dell with look at this and agree that this should not happen to a quality product.
Should I be left to fend on my own, does anyone know which part may be causing this to happen?
Thanks,
DC
