Yep, another one of those posts. Infamous E228WFP display problem.
Is it 100% confirmed that a bad inverter board is what causes the back light to suddenly turn off? I dismantled it to find the board, fiddled around with it (didn't see anything obviously wrong like blown caps) and put it back together. Instead of 2 seconds, ran for about 10 then started blanking again. Now it's back to 2 seconds.
Shining a flash light does show the dell test pattern on it.
It's real difficult to find the replacement boards (the part number for a revised board 715G2244-2 is near impossible to find, some chinese (knock offs?) come up for around $40 but I have no idea how good those are.
I love the size of this monitor and it's specs, but it's looking like it will get scrapped if I can't figure out a concrete answer on if it's the inverter board. Even other threads on the site here seem to say the replacement part number above may have the same problem?
It's a headache... Not sure where to go at this point
