This problem may be linked to recent upgrade from WinXP to Win7 Pro (SP1), but I can't be sure. I have some screen captures below showing the problem -- black text on white background is not always solid. But if I scroll the screen up or down, so the problem text disappears and then reappears, it typically looks OK -- but other text may now be "disintegrating."
I have reset to factory settings and done the monitor self-test. I suspect (hope) a driver issue but WIndows insists it has the best driver, and Dell system analysis tool says "no updates needed." Resolution is set at 1600x900 @ 60Hz. System analysis says graphics card is RV770XT. All original Dell cables, nothing changed from a hardware standpoint during the OS upgrade.
Is this a sign that my 5-year-old monitor is dying? Seems such a coincidence that I noticed the problem right around the time of OS upgrade. I've searched for related posts but don't even know what to call the problem other than "disintegration."
TIA
